ABSTRACT
This paper presents a new assembly variation model of compliant automobile body sheet metal parts through building the variation propagation models of different assembly processes. The Method of Influence Coefficients is adopted to deduce the assembly variation model and the Finite Element Method is used to solve the assembly variation model parameters. A case of two cantilever beam assembly is supplied to validate the proposed assembly variation modeling method. The result shows that the proposed assembly variation modeling method can effectively predict the assembly quality of the automobile body parts.
